Y.N. Rich Kids debut new videos, "My Bike" and "Khaki Pants"

YN_Rich_Kids_Bike.jpg
It's been a long, slow march into springtime here in Minnesota, but all of a sudden it already feels like summer. Why's that, you ask? Because the Y.N. Rich Kids, last year's adolescent hip-hop phenoms behind viral hit "Hot Cheetos & Takis," are back with a long-awaited follow-up, called "My Bike." It's a star-studded slow jam that tours Minneapolis landmarks like Target Field, First Ave, and the Mall of America, with cameos by Brother Ali, Mod Sun, Prof, and -- well, we'll let you see who else you can spot.

To sweeten the deal, the Rich Kids have dropped not one, but two new videos, the second of which is actually from a concurrent group called the NSJ Crew, which features many of the same members. That song, "Khaki Pants," is a real banger. Check both out below the break.

Sobiech at the Varsity earlier this year.
SoulPancake released a short documentary Friday on Zach Sobiech, the terminally ill, ever-optimistic Stillwater teenager whose song "Clouds" has been viewed by millions on Youtube.

Sobiech was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, more than three years ago. After learning his condition was terminal, he wrote "Clouds" and other songs as goodbye letters to his family and friends, and has since signed a deal with BMI and played to a packed house at the Varsity.

The Tribe and Big Cats unveil latest album, Space

TTxBC have just dropped another video directed by Isaac Gale and David Jensen: "DMT Flow", the first song on the group's new free album Space, finds rapper TruthBeTold spitting bars while riding around in a tank and brandishing a flag blaring their logo.

It's a visual that fits the flow precisely, showcasing a relaxed attitude with the very real potential for danger at any moment. Lizzo of The Chalice shows up for a cameo and a good amount of dust is kicked up. Check out the video below, as well as exclusive Gimme Noise photos from the shoot.More »

MCA tribute: Kids re-enact Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" video

kidssabotage.jpg
"WHYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?"
Anyone who grew up in the '90s would tell you "Sabotage" is easily one of the defining music videos of the decade, whereby the Beastie Boys riff on '70s cop shows with an exaggerated chase through the streets in bad wigs and aviators.

Now, nearly 20 years later and as the hip-hop world mourns the loss of one-third of the group with the passing of Adam "MCA" Yauch, a group of kids are paying tribute by re-enacting "Sabotage" in a hilariously fitting tribute.

Margaret Lane, ex-Hildur Victoria, debuts "Shangri La" video

Margaret_Lane_Shangri_La.jpg
It's been a while since we've heard much of anything out of Margaret Lane. Around this time last April, Lane, with her then-band Hildur Victoria, put out an impressive debut record -- a moody, cryptic work that put the singer's emotionally-charged vocal style on full display. But, while Hildur Victoria was promising enough to make City Pages' year-end list of the best local albums, within weeks it was announced that Lane had left the band.

Now, at long last, Lane has returned, putting out her first official recording since leaving her old group last summer. Check out the premiere for her new "Shangri-La" music video after the break.

Wiping Out Thousands drop new video for "Mass Nerve"

Wiping Out Thousands small.jpg
Local electroclash duo Wiping Out Thousands have been creating quite a stir within the Twin Cities music scene as of late. In addition to blowing everyone away with their recent opening set for Yacht at the Entry (where they essentially stole the show from the headliners), they have also generated quite a bit of buzz with their stellar EP, Reaction Machine, as well as their new single "Mass Nerve."

The group has just released a ghostly, distorted video for "Mass Nerve," which puts most of the focus directly on the faces of Alaine Dickman and Taylor Nelson (as well as some bleak roadside scenery) over the course of its fitful, funky four minutes.

Carnage_Hunger_video.jpg
Carnage is thirsty for more in 2012 too.
It looks like a busy year ahead for local rapper Carnage the Executioner, otherwise known as the "Fastest Rapper in the Midwest." Today, the beatbox extraordinaire gave us a kickoff to his 2012 agenda in the form of a brand-new music video, called "Hunger." The video jumps between nighttime scenes in south Minneapolis featuring Carnage strolling and rapping with a sandwich in his hand, and our star sitting before a one-man feast. In typical form, "Hunger" features a healthy mix of lightning-fast wordplay, shit-talking, and some self-deprecating humor. Check out the video below the break.
