Carnage is thirsty for more in 2012 too.
It looks like a busy year ahead for local rapper Carnage the Executioner, otherwise known as the "Fastest Rapper in the Midwest." Today, the beatbox extraordinaire gave us a kickoff to his 2012 agenda in the form of a brand-new music video, called "Hunger." The video jumps between nighttime scenes in south Minneapolis featuring Carnage strolling and rapping with a sandwich in his hand, and our star sitting before a one-man feast. In typical form, "Hunger" features a healthy mix of lightning-fast wordplay, shit-talking, and some self-deprecating humor. Check out the video below the break.

Longtime audio/visual collaborators Low and local film and video director Phil Harder have churned out another stunning masterpiece together. The new clip for "Especially Me" -- from this year's C'Mon, the band's 9th full length release -- features vocalist/drummer Mimi Parker aboard a New York City subway as part of a similar slow-motion stop action motif that the band and director have used in past work.

Uncle Jesse sings Alan Sparkhawk? Low drops new Stamo'd video

stamos-low-wtf-thumb.jpg
Let's do some logical accounting. John Stamos is known for being debonair, rich, and occupying some suburban gray area between non-threatening and "rock and roll." The band Low is known for being blue, hushed, emphatically north-shore, and maybe a bit insecure.

If my almost-passing grade to introductory mathematical logic serves me right, that would mean that these two very different entities were bound to professionally intersect at some point.

Well good news: they have.

cloud-cult-youll-be-bright.jpg
Over the last few years the local music scene has come a long ways, from national recognition and "big indie" signings and more importantly a progressive, experimental spirit that seems valued above all else. Instead of a local sound it seems we have a local ideal: play well, don't languish.
