Michele Bachmann on Larry King: gives Hillary a fashion review, gets name of her party wrong

With speech reviews rolling in, our own Michele Bachmann (R-Neptune) rolled onto CNN to give her glassy-eyed take on Hillary Clinton's just-delivered oration.

After Kay Bailey Hutchinson half-heartedly delivered a talking point or two and Dennis Prager went on a bizarre anti-government rant that had nothing to do with Clinton's speech, Bachmann was asked if Clinton had scored.

"I think she did make a score, especially with her tangerine-colored pantsuit."

Submarines! Bullet proof luxury boxes! The RNC is coming.

The Hudson Star-Observer just published a rather rambling piece that begins with a word about Hudsonite Jeff Larson (whose name you might recognize from this story--or this one), who has been central to RNC planning from the start and is quoted throughout. The story ends with an interesting peek into security efforts in advance of the convention.

VP sweeps: Pawlenty is the frontrunner

That's the word from The Fix this morning. Here's what Chris Cillizza has to say about T-Paw:

The two-term Minnesota governor has to be considered the frontrunner at the moment to be McCain's pick. He hails from the electorally important Midwest, is young enough to balance concerns about McCain's age, and he stuck by the Arizona senator in the darkest days of the campaign. The criticism that Pawlenty is an unknown on the national stage may, in fact, be an argument in his favor -- voters won't bring any preconceived notions about him to the ticket. Never forget that one of the guiding principles in picking a VP is to find someone who is comfortable being seen but not heard. Want more about the man they call "Tpaw"? Make sure to read Jonathan Martin's profile of the man.

Your Minnesota GOP: Working Hard for You

Looking for a site to liveblog from tonight, I wanted to find a place where local politicos gathered. Ideally, I'd be at a Republican affair, since it's their convention we're covering and all. So I punched up the Minnesota GOP site and looked on their calendar for potential sites:

Don't strain yourselves, folks! Election season will be over soon. And yes, the calendar is real.

My personal verdict: I'll be setting up shop at the Obama party at O'Gara's, where the liquor streams in with the wireless Internet. Come say hi if you see me.
