Lloyd Marcus, a Florida-based Republican singer wrote this brilliant, brilliant ditty, "Sarah Smile," about the moose hunter VP candidate. He's touring the nation with a PAC called Our Country Deserves Better. They hate Barack Obama. Unfortunately, the OCDB tour isn't coming to the Twin Cities, but you can still catch Marcus' act on YouTube. A few choice lyrics:
"John McCain, he did it right, very much to our delight. 'Cause the nominee is the person we've been hoping for. Oooohh! Her qualifications are plain to see, and when it comes to character, she really moves me! So let's go, and pull the leverrrrr!!!"

The line of the night for Sarah Palin was, “You know the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.” It seemed to be a spontaneous reaction to seeing the "hockey moms for Palin" signs in the audience, lending spontaneity to what was otherwise a scripted speech provided by the Bush administration. But now I'm wondering if that line was indeed scripted, since it turns out those hockey mom signs were planted:

Those home made looking signs...aren't really home made. McCain staffers have been handing them out to the crowd on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

"Confused and disturbed" is how comedian and Republican activist Ben Stein described his reaction to John McCain's choice of running mate. The actor, whose most famous role was as Ferris Bueller's teacher, told CNN that yesterday in St. Paul.

Republicans are definitely on message about Sarah Palin, despite growing revelations. If you talk to them, you'll get statements of unqualified support. You'll get standard talking points.

But then there are the whispers.

You might not have heard, but the Republicans are set to nominate a controversial figure tonight.

John McCain's team didn't vet Sarah Palin properly, and so now they're having to answer all manner of uncomfortable questions about the Alaska governor's support for Alaskan independence (!), her alleged abuses of power, and her daughter's unwed pregnancy.

Palin's got backup, though, including support from Dr. Richard Land, head of the Southern Baptist Convention. He said that criticisms of Gov. Palin are rooted in sexism. This is a lot like having Swamp Thing dis your deodorant.
