Credit that loss to Gardenhire

• This team has surprised me constantly. They're over achievers. Liriano is coming back. It's pitching..pitching.. I'm dismayed that we didn't pick up a veteran pitcher. But this scrappy team can overcome all obstacles... I have been invited to a dinner at the racetrack by a locally famous "star". I will refuse to go because 4-or 5 horses are euthanized every week. The sport of kings? I don't think so..

• Paul,hey thanks ,I just know that nobody would sat next to him on the plane...inside source..I gots 'em too.. They're play tonight was atrocious.. Mr. Silva has not helped by this matter And Mr. Baker totally doesn't know when to throw a breaking ball..

• I agree with Barry. It's been a while (thankfully) but as I recall, you usually feel rotten before, then- unpleasant as praying at the porcelain is- somewhat better after tossing the cookies. A slap of water on the old bean bag and Silva should have been ready to go all Cy Young on the Tampa Bays in the 7, 8 and 9.

• Neshek has been less than brilliant of late--even discounting last night's meltdown. In his prior 5 outings Neshek pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing 6 hits, 2 walks, and 2 runs. Since August 23, his e.r.a. has jumped from .81 to 2.33. I've said it in this space before: batters will have more success against Neshek as they grow accustomed to his strange delivery.

• How many games has Silva been cruising in before giving up back to back jacks? I'll take Neshek in the 6th anytime, even if it appears Silva has his good stuff.

• Silva is the villain here.No doubt. He couldn't suck it up during a pennant race and his teamates are none too happy.

• That's exactly what set me off. Gardy does have a long history of utilizing an extremely quick hook. I assumed that he was yanking Silva in some misguided attempt to protect him. Apparently Coomer mentioned the stomach ache issue on the broadcast as well, but i missed it. The dangers of watching baseball on tivo. I have proof that Elko attends soccer matches and subsists solely on vodka lattes. His credibility is nil.

• Irresponsible blogging aside, there's very little doubt that Gardenhire is exactly the type of manager who would pull Silva in that situation. You're talking about a guy who pulled Santana after five innings during the 2004 playoffs.

• Dammit Paul, we're not done with you yet! Dark Star also reported on CCO that you under cooked your beans and rice. The package clearly read, "bring to a full, rolling boil," but did you? Noooo. And adding that half-empty can of Hamm's you had left over from two nights ago to the pot, while in keeping with traditional journalistic principles, was a major culinary faux pas. For shame!

• Thanks for teaching me a lesson in responsible blogging! I'm an idiot obviously. So, more importantly, what the hell is Silva's problem?

• This oughta be a lesson in blogging before you have all the facts. As reported in both dailies this morning, Silva took himself out of that game, and the entire field staff was furious with him for it. Obviously, Paul, you couldn't have known all of this when you wrote the post, but it was obvious to even a casual viewer of that game that something had to be up - no manager yanks a pitcher who's cruising after six innings and 59 pitches unless something else is going on. You wrote the post just after 9pm, minutes after the game ended. Would it have killed you to wait a couple of hours to find out what it was before slamming Gardenhire?

• Apparently my rush to pin the blame on Gardy was a bit premature and ill advised. Credit the rice and beans that was giving me bad stomach cramps.

• On CCO the said Silva went out with a tummy ache. If that's the case I think a gallon of milk and some castor oil should be part of his pregame warmup.
