Sweat, Sox? Minnesota vs. Chicago series preview

Categories: MLB

The Cleveland series was easy to look past, considering both the historical notes attached to the previous games in New York, and of course the series that follows this week. Taking the last two from the Indians, combined with the White Sox' Sunday loss to Detroit, sets up a pivotal four days at the Dome. The Twins, now just 2.5 back of Ozzie and Co., have had perennially leveled battles with the White Sox in the Gardy era, as evidenced by the skipper's 61-62 career mark versus the South Siders since 2002 (40-45 since Guillen took over in '04). However, a four-day surge and sweep would put the Twins back in 1st place for the first time since May 13th, when we were 20-18. In the words of both Denny Hocking and Denny Hecker, it's nut-cutting time.

Here's a look at the statistical histories of players in both dugouts, with both seasonal and lifetime numbers versus the respective foe:

Pitching Probables:
7/28 Mark Buehrle, LHP (8-8, 3.56 ERA) vs. Kevin Slowey, RHP (6-7 4.41 ERA)
